Dr. Salim “Jah” Kenyatta

Dr. Kenyatta is an educator, cultural preservationist, and community organizer who collaborates with other service leaders to create “Living Room” experiences where people come together to fellowship in a safe “Black Space” to experience love, peace, and happiness.  As a communal organizer, writer, poet, and cultural curator, he incorporates traditional African, alchemical, and eastern philosophical models that fuse music, art, and science into messages of elevation and transformation. In addition, he facilitates the following workshops: Afrofuturistic Sound Therapy, Fire ceremonies, drum circles, writer labs, Male empowerment gatherings, ancestral reconnaissance seminars, leadership development, and life counseling. 

 

Salim is also a performance-driven professional with more than 20 years of experience managing and delivering educational, workforce development, and social service programs. He is a respected leader and skilled coach who models effective educational practice to develop the skill competencies of students, mentees, and clients. He earned his Doctorate in Education in Educational Practice from the University of Missouri – St. Louis, with a focus on using ancient African best practices to help African Americans learn to soar and become stars of their story.
