Our programs

Explore the Black Healers Collective’s (BHC) transformative programs, created to foster healing, resilience, and empowerment within communities.

New opportunities for wellness (NOW)

NOW is a neighborhood-based healing initiative designed to foster resiliency and wellness in communities impacted by trauma and violence. Through partnerships with local organizations, NOW provides training and facilitates events where residents learn to build communal healing practices that transform individual and collective trauma. Participants gain skills in community healing, support neighborhood well-being, and develop trauma-responsive skills for collective care.

Pop-UP Healing House

Our mobile/pop-up Healing Houses bring BHC’s community-centered approach to neighborhoods, offering accessible wellness activities in a communal setting. These houses include spaces for art therapy, relaxation, listening, and play, allowing community members to connect and heal together. Community members gain access to culturally affirming healing practices in a safe, inclusive environment that promotes emotional release and collective care.

Healing studio

The Healing Studio is a streamlined, single-room version of the community Healing House, making it ideal for smaller events or settings. It includes essential healing activities, such as healing circles, listening booths, and gentle movement.

Healing Salons

Healing salons are specialized experiences for groups seeking to deepen self-care and collective wellness practices. These salons bring participants into shared, restorative spaces where they engage in activities like meditation, reflection, and self-expression tailored to their needs.

Heal-n-arts initiative

Two Black women standing outdoors in a park, smiling, surrounded by blankets and chairs, with trees and houses in the background.

A unique fusion of art and healing, Heal-n-Arts provides pop-up installations that invite community members to explore healing practices through creative expression in everyday spaces. This initiative places healing experiences in accessible, high-traffic areas like parks, bus stops, and plazas. Through artistic engagement, participants reclaim community narratives, creatively express emotions, and build positive connections.

Balm residency program

BALM is a year-long cohort training program that brings together artists and healers to create unique medicine at the intersections of performing, visual, written, multi-media/interdisciplinary arts and healing arts. The residency includes monthly workshops, mentorship, and hands-on training, preparing participants to lead healing efforts within their communities. Graduates gain practical tools for trauma-responsive care, collective healing, and community resilience building.
